BEAR SANCTUARY near Prishtina

The Bear Sanctuary Prishtina currently has 16 bears rescued from restaurants around Kosovo. They were born in the forests of Kosovo or Albania and snatched from their mothers by animal dealers.

16 brown bears now live at Bear Sanctuary Prishtina. They suffered a terrible life for many years in cramped cages near restaurants and on cement floors around Kosovo before they were recused by FOUR PAWS. Many owners of restaurants took advantage of the lack of adequate laws protecting endangered animals, keeping the bears in small cages under terrible conditions. In response to this situation, FOUR PAWS offered an alternative by building a sanctuary for bears that were kept in captivity.

At sanctuary the bears have all that they need including an adequate diet, veterinary care, enrichment, and for the first time in their lives they have planty of space to roam, swim, dig, look for food and pursue their instinct.
